Stanford Blaine Johnson, 77, of Linden, passed away Wednesday June 12, 2019. Stan was born in Townsend, Tn. to the late J.M. and Blanche Lawson Johnson. He was the first of two children, followed by a sister Susan. Stan attended Townsend High School, Hiwassee College, and the University of Georgia, where he graduated with a degree in forestry. After being drafted and serving his country for two years, Stan practiced forestry with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry for 35 years. He loved his time with the Division of Forestry, particularly enjoying his travels across the country as a wildland firefighter. Stan was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He marveled at the beauty, power and intricacies of nature. Stan is survived by his wife Christy, his sister Susan Abbott Effler (Bruce), his sons Stan Johnson and Steven (Gina) Johnson, grandson Zach Johnson, granddaughter Kinsley Johnson, great-granddaughter Adalee McCanlless, nephew Keith Abbott (Loren), niece Rhonda Abbott Blevins (Terry), brother-in-law Chuck Gearhiser and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Stan is also survived by his chosen brothers, L.C. Jones (Joan), Robert Wright (Marge) and Roy Ashley. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his beloved grandparents "Boot Daddy" & Mama; esteemed brother-in-law Avery Abbott, esteemed in-laws, Charles and Joy Gearhiser and his beloved Aunt, Ada Lawson Less. Flowers or memorial donations to the charity of your choice in Stanford's name are welcomed. Deep gratitude is extended to all of Stan's beautiful friends, and the community of Linden for their love, compassion and assistance during this difficult time.
