Mr. Alton Denton "Buddy" Rainey, 89, of Waynesboro, formerly of Linden, passed away Sunday November 30, 2025, at Loving Care Assisted Living Facility in Waynesboro, TN. He was born March 28, 1936, in Linden, to the late William Earl Rainey and Fronia Denton Rainey. Mr. Rainey was a retired factory worker, proudly working for General Motors for over 30 years. "Buddy" as he was known to many graduated from the old Linden High School in 1955. He proudly served two different periods of time in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife June Rainey. Also preceded by other family members which include his sisters, Dorothy Patterson, and Edna Earl (Fred) Hickerson; his brothers Jimmy "Flea" Rainey and Joe Rainey.
Survivors include his brother Dale ( Debbie ) Rainey of Trussville, AL; several loving nieces and nephews, and many other family members.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 11AM in the O'Guin Cemetery, in Lewis County, with Phil Corbin officiating the services. Military Honors will be presented by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #1123 of Perry County.
