Anna Louise Payne Childress

Ms. Anna Louise Payne Childress, 88, of Linden, passed away Wednesday November 8, 2023 at the Perry County Nursing Home. She was born in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Hobart Lee Payne and Linnie Emory Payne. Ms. Louise was one of the founding members of the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church and a Gospel Music Singer. She enjoyed gardening, canning her vegetables from her garden, sewing and anything that was part of living a farm life. She also enjoyed painting and several people have some of her paintings hanging in their homes. 

In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Childress, a son Joe Bowman and brothers Warren and Woody Payne.

Survivors include her children Donald (Sylvia) Bowman of Lansing, MI., Doug (Alice) Bowman of Waterford, MI., Gloria (Scott) Ashworth of Pella, Iowa, Greg (Amanda) Childress of Linden and Michael (Kim) Childress of Manchester, 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a sister Sandra (Randy) Millett of Satsuma, FL., a brother Harold (Illa) Payne of Columbia, GA., and a host of other loving family members and many friends.
