Bo Mathis

Bo Mathis, age 72, of Lobelville, TN, and formerly of Pontiac, MI, passed away very unexpectedly on June 24, 2026.

 He was born on August 31, 1953, to the late Allen Grady and Mamie Elizabeth Thompson Mathis. He grew up in Lobelville, TN, and later moved to Pontiac, MI, to give his family a good life and raise his kids there. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Linda Lafferty, and they spent 48 years together before her death in November of 2020. While living in Michigan, he worked for General Motors, where he was also a proud member of the UAW. 

Bo’s absolute favorite pastimes were playing softball and playing pool. As he got older, even though he couldn’t play anymore, he’d still talk about his hay days of playing. And over the last couple of years, he had become an avid coin collector. After 31 years of working, he retired from GM and decided to move back to Tennessee to enjoy his retirement with his wife, Linda. Bo was one of the most generous people you could ever meet. He would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar he had if you needed them. 

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Lafferty Mathis, and his siblings, Martha Straind, Lucille Warren, Al Mathis, Doug Mathis, Martha Aldridge, Lucky Burcham, Linda Andrews, Mary Burlison, Jo Ann Burleson.

Bo is survived by his loving children, Amy Treadwell and Benji Mathis; beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth (Taylor) Hensley, Ben Mathis Jr., Austin Mathis, Lacey Mathis, and Hunter Treadwell; adoring great-grandchildren, Chaiselyn, Charlie, Chezney, Rhettick, and Taylee; siblings, Agnes (Gene) Coble, Bill (Becky) Mathis, Charlie (Tonya) Mathis; in-laws, JW Aldridge and Gloria Lafferty; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.  

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home for burial expenses.
