Mr. Calvin Coolidge Allen, 97, of Linden, TN passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Calvin was a farmer through and through, a hard worker, a perpetual cut-up, and a faithful witness for the Lord. Born August 30, 1928 to Elsie and Eula Denton Allen, Calvin was a lifelong resident of Perry County, calling Cedar Creek his home. He never met a stranger, and anyone who spent time with him knew him for his humor and generosity. Calvin was very honored to have received his 75 years Mason pin with Perry County this year. Calvin was married to Lydia Inman for nearly 60 years. Together they raised two children, the late David Houston Allen (Mary) and Myra Nell (James) Merriman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Eula Allen; his loving wife Lydia; his son, David; son-in-law James Merriman; brother Kenneth Allen; and sisters Ruby Heise and infant Bobbie Jo Allen.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Myra Merriman; daughter-in-law, Mary Allen; sisters Johnnie Faye Garrison and Betty Womack; grandchildren Christy Allen Holmes (Mark), Janell Merriman Hill (Adam), Daniel Merriman ( Cayley), and Cody Allen (Kristie); great-grandchildren Bristol, Oakley, and Cannon Allen, Lydia and Henry Hill, and Lila and Walt Merriman; and many loved nieces and nephews all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Calvin lived a long, full life. His stories, his jokes, and his wisdom will be remembered for years to come.
