Donald "Don" Ewing Ashton, 69, of Linden, TN, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 26, 2024, after a short illness. Don was born in Lobelville, TN, on January 7, 1955, to the late Alf Ashton Jr. and Videll Coleman Ashton. He was reared and educated in Memphis, TN, where he met the love of his life, Patti Doss Ashton. Together they would chase his dreams of being a farmer back to Linden. While row cropping and raising pigs and cows, Don became a proud father to Jill Ashton Clark and Amy Ashton Singleton. After farming for years, Don decided to better support his family by becoming a Teamster and a certified logistic specialist. In 2015, he retired from the trucking industry after 30-plus years and numerous safety awards. Retirement brought more time for the blessings Don was truly proud of like his yard, his garden, his cat, Vera, and most importantly, his family, especially his three grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy of hard work, kindness, and devotion.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kerra Cloe Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patti Doss Ashton of Linden,TN; daughters Jill Ashton Clark (Michael) of McKenzie, TN; and Amy Ashton Singleton (Christian) of Linden, TN; grandson Maddox Aunders Clark of McKenzie, TN; granddaughters Addison Jade Clark of McKenzie, TN; and Gabrielle Blair Singleton of Linden, TN; sisters Judy Estes of North Bend, WA; Jane (Scott) Smith of Hernando, MS; brother, Mike Ashton of Linden, TN; and brother-in-laws Jeff (Becky) Doss of Hernando, MS; David (Donna) Doss of Rossville, TN; and Dennis Doss of Olive Branch, MS; and a host of loving nieces and nephews and friends.
