With grateful hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. At 84 years old, Don Rhodes entered his heavenly home, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, laughter, and devotion to family. For 64 wonderful years, he shared a beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Mary. He was born in Linden to the late Abe Rhodes and Eva Polan Rhodes. He was retired from Fisher & Co.
Together, they built a life centered on God, and unwavering commitment. He was a proud father of four children and a treasured Grandaddy to 32 grandchildren. Don was a faithful servant of the Lord who loved attending church and worshiping through music. He could often be found with a guitar in hand, learning a new hymn or practicing songs to share with his church family. Music was one of the many ways he expressed his faith and brought joy to those around him. Known for his strong work ethic, he spent his life providing for and caring for those he loved. Yet, alongside his hardworking nature was a playful spirit. He was a natural jokester who loved making others laugh and telling jokes.
His remarkable memory allowed him to recall stories, songs, numbers, dates, and moments from years gone by. He also appreciated life's simple pleasures, and few things brought him more contentment than a good nap. His family often joked that he had perfected the art of resting.
While our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We take comfort in knowing that Don is now singing in a heavenly choir, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him, and resting in the presence of his Lord and Savior. His faith, laughter, music, and love will continue to echo through the lives of his family for generations to come.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a son Eric Rhodes, and a brother Dan Rhodes.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Mary Love McKnight Rhodes, his daughters Donna (Jerry) Landers, Denise Conatser and Darla Daniel all of Linden, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sisters Jane Hinson, June Parrish, Judy (Bill) Campbell and Bonnie Moody and a host of other loving family members and many friends.
