Mr. Earl Shanes, 82, of Lobelville, passed away Friday March 6, 2026 at Perry County Nursing Home. He was born in Nashville to the late Noah Shanes and Nellie Wright Shanes. Mr. Earl was a member of the Lobelville First Baptist Church. He was a retired Bus driver for the Perry County SCATS. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years, and taking trips to the Great Smokey Mountains. Earl especially loved any sports that involved the Tennessee Vols and watching his grandchildren playing sports in Perry County. He was also a member of the Perry County Masons. Earl dearly loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Joan Shanes, a son-in-law Bryan McGee, sisters Linda Sue Shanes and Betty Glenn, and brothers Monroe, Bill, Gerald St. Valentine "Tine", Preston, Ray and Joe Shanes.
Survivors include his children Ricky (Carolyn) Shanes of Linden and Clarissa McGee of Lobelville, a special daughter of love Robbie McCoy (Brent) Hinson of Linden, grandchildren Dustin (Candace) Shanes, Ryan (Kaci) Shanes, Hannah McGee (David) Greenlee, Peyton (Kendyl) Hinson and Alle (Parker) Brown all of Linden, great-grandchildren Audrey Shanes, Piper Shanes, Gentry Shanes, Beau Shanes, Luna Greenlee, Cora Brown, Ada Brown, Fisher Hinson and a special great-granddaughter Presley Ruggles, a sister Janelle Thrower of Lakeland, Florida and a host of other loving family members and many, many friends.
