Ms. Gretchen Sadler, 94, of Linden, passed away Friday February 13, 2026 at Perry County Nursing Home. She was surrounded by her family and great love. Ma was a kind, loving, compassionate woman who loved the Lord, Family, and everyone she met. She was a nurturing Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma, whose family was the center of her world. She loved to sew and quilt, stitching warmth and love into every piece she made. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and she was happiest when it was full--cooking for family, friends, or anyone who walked through the door. If anyone ever left her house hungry, it was their own fault. Her grandkids and great-grandkids were her pride and joy, and she loved on them every chance she got, holding them close and making sure they always knew how special they were. Her favorite sayings, "Lord help us" and "Lord watch over us" were words she spoke often and truly lived by. She was deeply loving, incredibly strong, and stubborn in the very best way--standing her ground, protecting her family fiercely, and giving her whole heart to those she loved.
Ms. Sadler was preceded in death by her parents, Lonzo and Genevieve Qualls, her husband of 58 years, Odean Sadler, her youngest son Sammy Sadler, grand-son Sammy Sadler, Jr., a granddaughter Benjalae Sadler, a great-grandson Everett Bates, brothers J.W. Qualls, Hansel Qualls, Lonnie Qualls and a sister Peggy Warren.
Ma is survived by her loving son George (Sheryl) Sadler, a daughter Patsy (Jack) Sanford, and a bonus son Rob Bills, grandchildren Vawneda (Jason) Bates, Ashley (Jared) Gardner, Boomer (Jade) Sadler, Becky (Jimbo) McFall, Jesse (Brian) Keeton, William (Jannessa) Sadler, Gus (Elsie) Sadler, Kassie (Scottie) Maness, great-grandchildren JJ Capps, Gracie (Jeremiah) Bates, Harper, Hayden, and Owen Gardner, Kemp and Gentry Sadler, Ava Littrell, Braxton, Anna, and Lillianna Sadler, Cash Clanton, Daniel, Haidley and Hazyn Maness, Dean, Janie and Waylon Sadler, Brittany Olive, great-great-grandchild Jameson Olive, sisters Jean Hensley and Judy Peeler and a host of other loving family members and many friends.
