Mrs. Joyce Woodard Sharp, 68, of Kingsport, Tn., formerly of Linden, passed away peacefully in her home on December 1, 2025, with her husband and her daughter by her side.
Joyce was born on August 9, 1957, in Memphis, Tn., the daughter of the late Bufford Emmett Woodard and Johnnie Elizabeth Miner. She graduated from Perry County High School in 1975. Joyce continued her education at Columbia State Community College, where she earned her associate degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician of the American Society of Clinical Pathology. She was married to her devoted husband, Nelson Sharp, for 51 years. Both were members of Lick Creek Baptist Church in Linden, Tn. In her younger years, she loved volunteering as a candy striper in the local hospital, and later in life she generously gave her time at the American Red Cross. Joyce was known for her love of her precious grandchildren, dachshunds, horses, fishing, drives through the mountains, and attending concerts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Nicholas Sharp and her brother Bill Escue.
Survivors include her loving husband Nelson Sharp, her daughter Jessica Fox, and her husband Sean Fox; her treasured grandchildren Carter, Claire, and Charli; her beloved dogs, Thumper and Dudley; her siblings, Sam and Sara Escue, Bob and Rosemary Escue, Gracie Strawn, and Emmett and Darlene Woodard; she also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephew, cousins and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, Joyce requested that donations be made to the Cri-Du-Chat Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Joyce will be remembered forever with love.
