Ms. Martha Sue Rogers Lomax, 87, of Linden, passed away Saturday December 14, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 17, 2024, at 1 PM in the chapel of Young Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 8 PM, and Tuesday from 11 am until service time. Interment will follow services at the Mayberry - Owens Cemetery.
She was born March 23, 1937 to the late Howard Batton Gunter and Mary Dee Cagle Gunter, in Only, Tennessee. Sue was a retired factory worker from Fisher & Co. She was a hard worker, usually having more than one job at a time. Sue had a history of restaurant service, along with selling Avon. There was no question she liked to stay busy. She gave her life to the Lord and received the infilling of the Holy Ghost on March 15, 2015 and was baptized in Jesus name on April 22, 2015. She was a member of The Sanctuary, First UPC in Hohenwald.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Elton Rogers. She later married Miles Austin Lomax who also preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death; Daughter Mary Joyce Rogers Baker; granddaughter Benjalae Marie Sadler; her sister Geneva Mae Gunter Rodgers.
Survivors include her children, Brenda (Timothy) Kelley, Nancy (Mike) Hickerson, all of Linden; Jesse Rogers of Lobelville; and Melissa Rogers of Smyrna, TN; Grandchildren, JL (Wendy) Baker, Mitchell (Laura) Andrews, all of Linden; Vawneda (Jason) Bates of Lobelville; Zachary (Kelli) Moore of Eagleville, TN; and Anna (Nathaniel) Mathews of New Johnsonville, TN. She had 6 great grandchildren as well as step grandchildren and greats who, in her own words, she loved as her own.
