Michael Francis Wood passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation. He was born July 12, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Kenneth Wood Sr and Janice Kachelski Wood. He was a graduate of Moreno Valley High School in Moreno Valley, California. Soon after, he entered the United States Army, in 1977. After completing the aviation flight engineer program he began working on the Chinook CH-47 helicopter. Michael was deployed to Saudi Arabia for operation Desert Shield and subsequently Desert Storm. After 20 years of active duty, he retired. He then went on to be employed with the Tennessee Department of Corrections at Turney Center, a career in which Michael loved. Many of his coworkers knew him as “Woody.” He was very loved and respected by many. Michael was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Francis Wood Sr and his previous wife Betty (Ludewig) Wood.
He is survived by his current wife Kimberly Rister Wood, his mother Janice Irene Wood, a brother Kenneth Wood Jr, a sister Teresa (Wood) Harley and a host of other loving family members and many friends.
