Michael "Big Mike" Jones

Mr. Michael Antoine Jones, 42, of Linden passed away unexpectedly at his Linden home. He was born June 3, 1979 to Steve Johnson and the late Royce Jones. 

On November 25, 2018 he married Sonya Smith. They attended Linden Church of God and Roberts Chapel AME Church. 

Michael was the type to never meet a stranger. He would do anything for anyone. He would often make sure everyone knew he was the best driver around. Michael took on a job as a truck driver and enjoyed hitting the road for adventure. When at home he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. There was nothing more precious than the smiles he saw on his grandbabies faces. On Sunday afternoons he would cheer on his Tennessee Titans and never waivered as a devoted fan. When he was working, to relax he would go for a swim, work in his garden outside or head out for some fishing with family and friends. He enjoyed making memories with his family cooking out and gathering with family.

In addition to his mother, Royce Jones, he is also preceded in death by his mother -in- law Sondra Smith, Uncles Jackie Jones, Jerry (Bobby Lea) Jones and William (Rita) Jones and grandparents on both sides of his family.

Survivors include his father Steve Johnson, his wife Sonya Jones, children Azia Jones, Marcus Smith, Deon (Bridget) Richardson and Alayna Richardson, grandchildren Trae, Xavier and Reya Richardson, brothers Desi Jones, Jushua (Ken) Jones and Jon Jones, sisters Clarissa Jones and Sheimeke Johnson, a loving and devoted aunt Lenora "Nanny" Jones, aunt Mildred Johnson, uncles Luther (Agnes) Jones, Jimmy (Rocena) Johnson, nieces and nephews Tucker James, Iyesha Sparkman, Jaylon Jones, Olivia Jones, Aubrey Johnson, Jacari Jones and Jacobi Jones. Also devoted best friends Tim Barber, Lamont Vaughn, Josh Morris, Jeff Marrs, Derek Feustal and Brandon Dicus and a host of other loving family members and many friends.
