Ms. Nella Jean Carroll Moore Williams, 88, of Georgia, formerly of Linden, was called home on the evening of Friday July 11,2025 following a courageous battle with dementia. She was born in Linden, Tennessee, the oldest daughter of Illa and Green Carroll. She spent her early childhood in Chestnut Grove and grew up on various farms her dad worked in Perry County.
Nella graduated from Linden High School in 1957, where she met Hollis Moore. The two married a couple of years after Nella graduated. They moved first to Nashville, then spent much of the 1960's traveling up and down the East Coast as Hollis worked in construction. In 1968, they settled in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, and in June of 1969 they welcomed their only child Christopher.
For the next 25 years, Nella dedicated herself to her family and community in Riverdale, Georgia, where she served as a homemaker, a substitute teacher, and worked in the banking industry.
In 1994, Nella and Hollis moved back to Linden. Following Hollis's passing in 1996, she remained there with family until she married Chuck Williams in November 1998, and they made their home in Columbia, TN. Chuck and Nella eventually sold their home, and started living full-time in an RV and traveling around the East Coast before settling six or so years later in Ocala, Florida.
In 2017, Nella returned to the metro Atlanta area to be closer to her family. There she remained enjoying time with her family and friends.
Nella is preceded in death by her parents, Illa and Green Carroll, a sister Sara Wooten, and her husbands, Hollis Moore and Chuck Williams.
Survivors include her son Chris Moore, daughter-in-law Jennifer, granddaughter Ashley (Spencer) Oliver, grandson Ian Moore, great-grandchildren Ramsey and Hayden Oliver, a niece Susan Wooten Hess, and many friends.
Nella will be remembered by those who knew her for her kind heart and sweet disposition.
