Ms. Nora Frances Monroe Johnston, 83, of Linden, passed away Friday April 25, 2025 at Maury Regional Medical Center. She was born in Perry County to the late W.G. Monroe and Margaret Middleton Monroe. Nora was a graduate of Linden High School, class of 1960. She was joined in marriage to Jimmy Solomon Johnston on April 12, 1962, and they made their home on Short Creek Road in Linden.
Nora worked for the United States Department of Agriculture's in the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service Office, where she enjoyed working with the farmers of Perry County for 33 years. She and her husband enjoyed gardening, country music, fishing and boating with friends and spending time with their grandsons. She was also a great cook and loved to play bingo and work on puzzles. Nora was a caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and leaves behind many memories.
In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Johnston and brothers Gerald, Jerry and Charles Monroe.
Survivors include her daughter Annette (Jim) Spruill of Columbia, grandsons Corey and Hunter Spruill, a sister Wanda Dotson of Linden, and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Duncan Cemetery Fund at First Bank in Linden.
