Oma Dean Jackson Obituary

Mrs. Oma Dean Jackson, 90, of Linden, passed away on April 9, 2022 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Oma Dean was born on October 29, 1931 in Linden, Tennessee to the late William Alfred and Carrie Eula (Ward) Jones as the third of five children. She was so tiny when she was born that she could fit into a shoebox and thus began her nickname of “Tince.” She was a member of Howard’s Methodist Church and church pianist. She was employed at several different jobs including Johnson Controls but her favorite was her job at the Perry County Library in Linden.

Oma Dean had a spunky personality and a smile for everyone. She was a Christian and a student of the Bible. She had a love of learning new things. Later in life, she learned to play the piano, took computer classes, and loved trying new gadgets. She was talented at many things including cooking, sewing and baking, most notably having the tallest meringue on pies and her homemade (with no recipe) macaroni and cheese, gardening, and being the best mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known to love the outdoors and sunshine, shopping, sweets, homegrown tomatoes, big ideas, good hair and beauty products, Chanel No. 5, and having a lead foot. She passed several of these loves on to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Oma Dean was preceded in death by her husband; Nathan Jackson, father; William Alfred Jones, mother; Carrie Eula (Ward) Jones, brothers; Paul Jones and Roy Jones, and sisters; Opal Bunch and Frances Hunt and a son-in-law Clark Wilsdorf.

Oma Dean is survived by children; Patricia W. Bell, Randy Jackson both of Linden and Linda (Barry) Jones of Murfreesboro, grandchildren; Tish (Colby) Holder, Jennifer (Brent) Jones, Whitney (Blake) Moore and precious great-grandchildren; Les Holder, Palmer Jones, Jax Holder, and Wiley Moore.
