Steven Douglas Hinson Obituary

Steven Douglas Hinson, 62, of Augusta, Georgia, originally from Linden, Tennessee, died due to an auto accident on October 18, 2021.  Steve was born on November 6, 1958 in Pontiac, Illinois to Ray and Jane Rhodes Hinson.  He was the eldest of four children and father of two daughters.  Steve worked construction all his adult life.  He was employed at the nuclear plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.  Steve graduated Perry County High School in 1976 and attended RETS Electronics Institute in Louisville, Kentucky.

Steve was naturally talented in many ways.  He was both a jack and a master of many trades.  Steve could build almost anything.  He was an electrician, plumber, and skilled in working with metal.  He was an ambitious person and successful at setting goals and achieving those goals. Steve held licensures in many trades. Steve was a musician who played the guitar, violin, mandolin, harmonica, and other instruments.  Steve was a singer and song writer as well.  Over the years he played in many bands.  Steve was an avid golfer and hunter.  He especially loved duck hunting and coon hunting.  Steve was a gun enthusiast and collector.  He also loved boating and fishing.  He loved football and rooting for the Tennessee Volunteers and Titans.  Steve was an excellent cook and was never afraid to try new food.  Steve was well-traveled and loved taking cruises.  In recent years he had visited Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Cuba.  Steve had a big personality and Steve was a generous family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, parents, and siblings.  Steve was a member of Howard’s United Methodist Church and had served on the pastor-parish relations committee.

Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, MH (Abe) Rhodes, Eva N. Polan Rhodes, William John Hinson, and Pauline Virginia LaRue Hinson Weems.

In addition to his parents Steve is survived by:  his beloved wife, Melinda Boatwright Hinson; his daughters, Stephanie Lynn (Daniel) Hinson Crawford and Leigh Ella (Michael) Hinson Crewse; his stepsons, Anthony, Phillip, (Musta), Scott (Octavia), Stephen, Christopher, and Eriq; his grandchildren, Luke Crawford, Landry Crawford, Ella Crewse, and Aiden Crewse; his siblings, John Hinson, Jeff (Karen) Hinson, and Kim (Gary) Anderson; his nieces, Brooke Hinson, Loren Anderson, Ashley Anderson, Lizzie Anderson, and Megan Hinson; his nephews, Jarrod (Kate) Hinson and Andrew Hinson; his great nieces, Mackenzie Hinson and Chloe Griffin; his great nephews, James Hinson and Xander Siebert; and his many friends, and extended family.
