Wayne H. Gladden
March 30, 1943 ~ September 26, 2023 (age 80) 80 Years Old
Mr. Wayne H. Gladden, 80, of Linden, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023. He was born March 30, 1943, to the late Niston Howard Gladden and Myrtle Ledbetter Gladden of Linden, Wayne was lovingly known as "Cow" to all his friends. He was a 1962 graduate of Perry County High School. After High School he met and married his wife Greetus. They were married for 58 years. During that time, they were blessed with one son, one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters. He worked for TDOT as a Party Chief, retiring after 37 years of service. Wayne was a Mason and a Shriner. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was very close to his great-granddaughters and attended all their basketball games and any other activities they were involved in. He was a Christian man and attended church at New Hope Baptist Church in Hohenwald and most recently attended the First Christian Church in Linden. Throughout his life he liked going on four-wheeler rides, hunting, playing golf and going out to eat. In his later years he remained active. He could be found eating breakfast and drinking coffee with friends or at the local Senior Citizens playing pool, where he was known as a 'pool shark'. On Friday nights you could always catch him at a competitive game of Rook with close friends. Wayne had many friends and he cherished them all. He was a big man of stature, but he was tender hearted and would help anyone who needed it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Greetus.
He is survived by his brother Larry (Linda) Gladden: a son Terry (Melanie) Gladden; granddaughter Rachel (Justin) Marshall; great granddaughters Abby and Alyza Marshall; a nephew Lannon (Leslie) Gladden and a great nephew Lee Gladden.
